Rebuilding an engine is involved and particular steps must be takento ensure a long lasting reliable build. First, the engine is disassembled, all freeze plugs and galley plugs are removed. Block is thoroughly cleaned, including the oil galleys, and checked for cracks. Usually the rocker arms and pivots and sometimes the rocker pivot bolts need replacing. The crankshaft is examined for grooves and excessive wear.
Preparation of the engine block is very important and a well-machined block will mean a long lasting engine that will give you many miles of performance and enjoyment. The block is bored and power honed to next available size pistons. Surface of the crankshaft is checked with R.A. Meter. Main caps of the block are line honed. Once the cylinders are done, honed or rebored, the main line checked and or align honed, the deck surface cleaned or resurfaced it is time to check other areas of the block that may need attention. After careful inspection and organization of parts, we now have a nice clean well-machined engine block to paint and start preparing for final assembly.
